Life. Be in it’ started in 1975 in Victoria and was subsequently adopted on a national scale by the Federal Government in 1977. The aim of the program was to promote an increase in daily activity levels among all Australians and to promote awareness for the importance of regular physical activity.

It was then, and is still today, considered to be one of the most recognisable health promotion programs in Australia, up there with the ‘Grim Reaper’ and ‘Slip, Slop Slap’. Healthy Living NT feels that ‘Life. Be in it’ and its message remains as important today as it was back then, particularly with the increase in obesity and chronic conditions that can both be directly and indirectly related to lifestyle and reduced overall levels in activity and exercise. With a mission to prevent chronic disease and get everyone to Be More Active, ‘Life. Be in it’ is a perfect match for Healthy Living NT and allows the inclusion of include preventative health and health promotion under our umbrella of services.

Healthy Living NT will strive to roll out recreational and physical activities that provide a direct link to building a healthier NT. Our vision is for all Territorians to engage in a healthier lifestyle through increased activity and better nutrition. Our statement that communicates our vision is, ‘get the most out of life…’
